La Boella has 4.5 hectares of irrigable vineyards from which Tarragona Designation of Origin wines are produced.
The four varieties of red grapes grown at La Boella are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Monastrell. Each has a different growing cycle, which allows the harvesting to be carried out in stages, following a rigorously controlled ripening process.
These varieties bring diverse aromatic and gustative notes that give an interesting complexity to our wines.
The grapes are hand-picked and placed in 18-kilo boxes. Only the best bunches are selected to ensure the end quality of the Mas La Boella wines. The grapes are grown on trellises with a plantation frame of 2.4 x 1.2 metres, using a double Royat pruning system, drip irrigation and a north-south orientation to take maximum advantage of the insolation and positive effects of the prevailing winds.
The vines are planted in silty and silty-clayey soils that allow good root development, which in turn helps the plants to absorb all the water and nutritional elements they need.
Production is limited to approximately 7,500 kilos per hectare, allowing more concentrated, higher quality grapes to be obtained.
