The town of Reus offers you the attractions of one of the most important cultural and commercial centres in Catalonia.

Its enterprising spirit is reflected in the large concen¬tration of shops in the town centre, in the very full cultural programme organised throughout the year and in the open, participative and welcoming nature of the people.

Full of gems of Modernist (Art Nouveau) architecture, Reus invites you to get to know the most emblematic buildings of that period by following its Modernist Itinerary. Other places of interest include the church of Sant Pere and the Teatre Fortuny, a symbol of past opulence.

PLACES OF INTEREST

CASA GASULL
This building is a fusion of Modernist and Noucentista elements. It was designed as a neoclassical palace judging from the mythology-inspired themes of the graffito medallions and the use of mosaic.
The Noucentista ideas of sobriety and purity of line can be seen in the simplicity of the pillars, balustrades and capitals. Art Nouveau is also present in the decorative profusion of the façade, the ceramics and the ironwork.

CASA RULL
The angle formed by the two façades is one of the most important visual aspects of this house. The most outstanding feature of the first floor is the elegant balcony, with its floral-design balustrades that continue towards the lateral façade.
On the top floor, of particular interest are the ornamental work, the Gothic-inspired windows and the merlons that crown the building.

CASA NAVÀS
Built between 1901 and 1907 for Mr and Mrs Navàs from plans drawn up by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner during his most creative period, when he was using decoration in abundance.

PALAU BOFARULL
The Bofarull family mansion was built in Llovera Street in around 1760 by Josep de Bofarull i Gavaldà. It has a façade of Churrigueresque elements on the perimeter of the portal. The most outstanding feature is the neoclassical salon with alfresco paintings and wall panels attributed to Flaugier.

CHURCH OF SANT PERE
The Priory Church of Sant Pere (St Peter) is the most noteworthy building of old Reus. Built over the earlier Romanesque church of Santa Maria, work on it began in 1512, under an agreement of the Council in 1501; it was provisionally opened for worship in 1543 and consecrated in 1569. Over the centuries, a magnificent set of altarpieces was collected, although all except the main altarpiece were destroyed in 1936.
